Edgar Tedresaar (b. 1984 in Tartu) graduated from the University of Tartu with a master’s degree in painting (2014) and previously studied painting at Tartu High School of Art. Panel paintings and wall paintings are of particular interest in Tedresaari.
Tedresaar has said about himself and his work that he “exists two poles.” A part of me seeks inspiration from the inner world of a person, which is spontaneously transferred to the canvas through feeling. The second part is interested in the rational world of Machines, which is based on systematicity and the expression of which is transferred to the painting surface through mathematical models and sacred geometry – systemic constructions grow out of the previous one. I want to find in myself a connecting line between realistic and surrealist paintings; to be spontaneous and free, but at the same time to create works that reflect the surroundings.”
