Maurice Mazeilie
(1924 - 2021)

Maurice Henri Mazeilie (French 1924-2021).

Born in Clichy, Hauts-de-Seine, Paris in early 1924, Mazeilie painted prolifically covering landscapes, coastal scenes in Brittany where he had a studio, Parisian landscapes and architecture, and portraiture. He departed for the USA in 1957, returning to France briefly for a few months in 1958, then arriving back in early 1959 to settle in San Diego California where he applied for naturalisation and became a longstanding figure in the artist’s centre at Spanish Village in San Diego between approximately 1967-1974. He had married in San Diego in 1964 to a young lady of 27, when he was 40 at the time. In the late 1970’s he returned to France and continued to paint and sketch right up to 2019. His gentle, impressionist style makes his work very easy to live with.
