Uno Roosvalt received his education as a painter at the Tartu Art School and the Estonian State Institute of Art (Estonian Academy of Arts). He worked as a lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Arts from 1969 to 2012, and has been participating in exhibitions since 1968. Roosvalt has won several awards and prizes (including the Konrad Mägi Medal), his works belong to the collections of the Estonian Art Museum, Tartu Art Museum and Tallinn Art Hall. He is the author of many book illustrations, creating landscapes, coastal and marine graphic pages, spectacular oil paintings, and unique drawings that captivate with their black-and-white color schemes, in which individual colors are intertwined. Rosy balances realism and abstraction on the borderline. One of his special favorites is the islands and their coastline, he is one of the few authors who has not started to change himself with the arrival of new winds, but has remained faithful to what he does best.
