Yves Saint Laurent was one of the first designers to display black models: Fidelia became the first in 1962, followed by Katoucha Niane, Amalia Vairelli, Pat Cleveland, Rebecca Ayoko and Iman.
1968 after opened a boutique in New York. In the 1970s, he presented collections-tribute to Picasso and Diaghilev, and tributes to Matisse, Cocteau, Braque, Van Gogh, Apollinaire.
