Art description

Anatoly Isoitoko was born in 1954 in the city of Polotsk. In 1984, he graduated from Vitebsk Technological State University, Department of Design. In 1984-1989 he worked as a teacher of drawing at the design department of Vitebsk State Technological University. Since 1989 – a member of the All-Union creative group of painters in Gurzuf. Member of the Vitebsk regional organization of the NGO “Belarusian Union of Artists” since 1995. He worked in the technique of oil painting and graphics. An extremely hardworking artist, unconditionally devoted to art, and this belief in a creative mission subordinated all other aspects of his life without a trace. Since 1984, Anatoly Isoitoko has opened about 30 solo exhibitions in Belarus and abroad.

Until the last day, he worked on his symbolic, philosophical works, which can be attributed to post-symbolism. “Why did I choose post-symbolism? I like to live in the past, ”Anatoly Isoitoko once said at the opening of his exhibition. As the artist noted during his lifetime, Greek mythology was the main theme, the fundamental principle of his work. He also paid close attention to Slavic mythology, developing themes of Belarusian legends and legends. “I became interested in mythology as a child,” said Anatoly Isoitko, “In the 60s in the Glubokoe District I was lucky to see many bright and colorful folk rites. Later he looked for materials in books, tried not to miss a single folklore holiday. Many of my works contain motifs of Greek mythology. This is the basis of everything. Plots of Slavic and Greek mythology are in many respects similar. ”

In addition, Anatoly Isoitko spent his whole life in lyrical landscapes. He drew inspiration for lyric paintings, first of all, in verses. But the landscapes of Anatoly Isoitoko are largely symbolic and give scope to the imagination of the viewer. In the course of his creative searches, Anatoly Isoitoko developed his own recognizable style. His works are always interesting to completely different categories of viewers: not only art critics and people who are versed in modern art, they are close and understandable to an unprepared viewer.

In June 2014, the artist said that he was working on paintings dedicated to the works of the national writer of Belarus Vasil Bykov. Once at the vernissage, Anatoly Isoitko was asked: what is the most favorite painting at the exhibition. He replied: “The most beloved is always the one that is on the easel.”

Anatoly Isoitko brought up a galaxy of talented students, while he was always interested in their progress in life, never was indifferent to their merits and helped many in becoming on a difficult creative path. An extraordinary person, a loving son, a unique painter with a unique creative style – this is how his contemporaries will remember him.

The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, in museums in Minsk, Vitebsk, Mogilev, Polotsk, as well as in private collections in the USA, Israel, France, Germany and other countries.
