Art description

Kravchenko Alexey

(1957)

Aleksei Kravchenko, like a philosopher; and the fruits of his intellectual journeys in the painting are entirely inscribed in the phenomenon of Vitebsk school. They are the practices of 3D-painting changes implemented in 1920 in and his students, and which Kazimir Malevich Vitebsk by disappeared for half a century, and then revived in Vitebsk environment in the last quarter of the last century.

Aleksei Kravchenko in such hard work with the subconscious and the unconscious found his own handwriting of philosophical pictorial text on the canvas: he realized that the mathematical and color harmony of the world could be opened with poetry keys.

Aleksei Kravchenko is one of the brightest representatives of the middle generation of contemporary artists. His works combine traditions of Vitebsk art school of the early twentieth century and modern trends.

Surprisingly, he manages to depict the illusion of a moment, and at the same time the sense of infinity of variations, both plastic, and color. The play of light and color in his works fascinates with unexpected combinations, meaningful reading. It’s typical, that these abstract works contain a kind of stylistic neutrality. The artist seeks to capture the diversity and harmony of his interpretations, does not care about any particular style.

Aleksei Kravchenko doesn’t have established color preferences, rather we see his unlimited possibilities to create harmony on the canvas using some particular local color, adding to it a diverse range of vibrating lines and spots, which can be seen a continuous chain of the world cultural heritage interpretation.

The paintings of A.Kravchenko are examples of abstract expressionism in its purest form. Strongly inspired by the abstract expressionist movement of the 1940s and ‘50s, Kravchenko takes the spirituality and luminosity of Rothko’s colors along with the energy and vitality of Pollock’s gestural paint splatters to create his own fresh, contemporary interpretation of their modern masterpieces. Kravchenko paints purely by instinct, calling his process an “improvisation.” He approaches each board with no conceived plan of what he will create, how, or even what pigments he’ll use. He favors acrylics and oils and is very hands-on in how his finished works will look.

Filled with vivid, yet earthy colors, and strong brushstrokes that move through the entire composition with a sense of uninhibited freedom, it’s no doubt that Kravchenko’s works reflect the inner emotions and energy of their creator. Is engaged in creative activity since 1977. The member of the Belarusian Union of Artist since 2002. At the heart of creativity-intuitive self-expression. The Artis conducts vigorous exhibition activity since 1982. Works are in the state and private collections of France, Holland, Germany, USA, Belarus, Israel, Austria, Russia, Italy, Belgium and etc.
