Eugenijus Survila
(1925 - 2019)

Survila was born in 1925. December 4 in Kaunas. in 1945 graduated from Kaunas “Aušras” boys’ high school. in 1945 entered the Kaunas Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts.in 1951 graduated from this institute and obtained the specialty of monumental and decorative painting artist. His work was influenced by painters S. Ušinskas, V. Kairiūkštis, J. Šileika.Having started his creative activity in 1951, the artist devoted many years to painting, cultivating portrait and landscape genres. His works are preserved in the Lithuanian Art Museum, the National M.K. In the Čiurlionis Art Museum, in private collections.The most valuable part of the artist’s work is the gallery of portraits of people of Lithuanian culture and science. Having mastered the art of drawing while studying at the Kaunas State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts, he devoted most of his time to portraiture on the path of independent creativity.In portraits of classic compositions, he expressed the emotional state of a person with drawing and color, creating suggestive pictures that exalt the personality.As a sensitive colorist, E. Survila revealed himself in landscapes, mostly painting favorite views of Klaipėda harbor and seashore.In them, the harmony of the ships and the environment, the dynamic dynamics of the atmosphere were highlighted in bright, fresh colors.For many years, Survila led the art studio “Rainbow” of the Kaunas cultural center “Tautos namai”, he was loved and respected by its large group of participants.
