Aleksander Georgyevich Gulyaev (September 11, 1917, Rubtsovsk, Altai province – June 22, 1995, St. Petersburg, Russian Federation) – Soviet painter, member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists (until 1992 – Leningrad organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR.

Alexander Georgievich Gulyaev was born on September 11, 1917 in Rubtsovsk, Altai Territory. In 1933 he entered the Tashkent Art College, studied with V.P. Markova, A.N. Volkov, M.I. Kurzin. In 1937, after graduating from college, he arrived in Leningrad and entered the faculty of painting at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. He studied with A. E. Karev, I. P. Stepashkin, E. M. Cheptsov, A. I. Zakolodin-Mitin, M. D. Bernshtein, S. V. Priselkov, L. F. Ovsyannikov.

In 1941, Alexander Gulyaev volunteered for the front. Participated in the defense of Leningrad. He was demobilized in 1943 for injury. In the same year, he resumed classes at the institute in Samarkand and, together with the institution, returned to Leningrad in 1944. In 1946 he graduated from the institute in the workshop of A. Osmerkin with the qualification of an artist. Thesis – historical painting “Minin and Pozharsky.” In the same year he was admitted to the Leningrad Union of Artists.

First participated in the exhibition in 1940. Since the late 1940s, a regular participant in Leningrad, as well as republican and all-Union art exhibitions. He painted genre, historical-revolutionary and battle paintings, portraits, landscapes, natural studies. The author of the paintings “Portrait of the perimeter of the plant. Voskova E. Chemizova “[3] (1950),” For the Great Construction Projects “(1951),” The Old Courtyard “,” At the Store “,” Kazakhstan. Steppe Village ”(all 1955),“ Decision on an armed uprising ”,“ Waiting for the mail ”(both 1957),“ Crimean Mountains ”,“ At the Pier ”,“ Siberian Courtyard ”(all 1958),“ Liberators of Primorye ”,“ Autumn ” “,” Noon “(all 1960),” Unforgettable morning “,” Zimka. Staraya Ladoga ”(both 1961),“ Gray Day ”(1968),“ Portrait of A. V. Baskova ”(1971),“ Metalworkers ”(1975) and others.

At the turn of the 80s and 90s, the works of Alexander Gulyaev as part of the expositions of works by Leningrad artists were presented to European audiences at a number of foreign exhibitions.

He died on June 22, 1995 in St. Petersburg at the 78th year of his life.

The works of A. G. Gulyaev are in museums and private collections in Russia, Japan, France, the USA and other countries.
